18CrNiMo7-6 Steel Forgings Applications

18CrNiMo7-6 steel forgings exhibit excellent mechanical properties, including high hardness, high strength, excellent wear resistance, and high toughness. 18CrNiMo7-6 steel forgings are ideal blank materials for high-load parts requiring both surface wear resistance and core toughness.

 Automotive Industry:

Gearbox gears and drive shafts.

Energy and Chemical Industry:

Pump shafts and valve stems.

Aerospace:

Aircraft gears and engine parts.

Construction Machinery:

Reducer gears and pins.

Plastic molds:

Due to their high strength at medium temperatures, they have been used to manufacture missile engine housings, aircraft landing gear, rotor blades, etc. The working temperature range is typically 400-500℃.

18CrNiMo7-6 Forged Steel Features

18CrNiMo7-6 steel forgings exhibit excellent mechanical properties, including high hardness, high strength, excellent wear resistance, and high toughness.

Excellent mechanical properties:

Tensile strength ≥ 1100–1300 MPa, yield strength ≥ 900 MPa, elongation ≥ 10%, impact toughness ≥ 50 J (stable at -40℃)

High Hardness:

After carburizing and quenching, this steel achieves a surface hardness of 58–62 HRC, a wear-resistant layer depth of 0.8–1.6 mm, while maintaining a core hardness of 30–45 HRC.

Good Hardenability:

Deep hardening enables larger component sizes.

Excellent wear resistance:

Chromium and molybdenum promote the formation of hard carbides in the carburized layer, significantly improving surface wear resistance.

Excellent fatigue resistance:

The uniform, tempered sorbite structure in the core absorbs impact energy, inhibits crack propagation, and increases high-cycle fatigue life by more than 40% compared to ordinary alloy steels, making it suitable for alternating-load environments.

Excellent machinability:

Trace amounts of sulfides improve cutting performance, increasing cutting speed by 10–15% compared to ordinary medium carbon steel, with selectable feed rates of 0.12–0.18 mm/rev, and extending tool life by 20–30%.

Excellent heat-treatment stability:

High-dimensional stability after heat treatment, with a deformation rate of less than 0.05%, makes it suitable for machining precision parts.

Strong corrosion resistance:

Chromium provides mild corrosion resistance, suitable for water- or oil-containing environments.

High-temperature adaptability:

The addition of molybdenum enables the steel to maintain stable strength below 400℃, demonstrating creep resistance and adaptability to medium-temperature conditions.
