Forged H11 Tool Steel Applications:

The main alloy elements of H11 steel are chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium. We remelt H11 tool steel by electroslag remelting to improve the properties. Our H11 tool steel can be hardened by air.H11 tool steel forgings have high toughness, excellent resistance to thermal fatigue, and good high-temperature strength. H11 tool steel main applications span industrial mold making and aerospace fields, specifically including:

 

  • Die-casting molds: Used to manufacture die-casting molds for aluminum, magnesium, and copper alloys, such as mold cores, mold plates, and flow dividers. They can withstand high heat loads and metal erosion, and their service life is 1.5-3 times that of traditional steel.
  • Forging molds: Suitable for high-speed hammer forging dies, integral dies, or inserts for forging presses, especially suitable for forging ferrous metals or aluminum alloy parts such as connecting rods and crankshafts for automobile engines. They can handle complex cavities and high-impact loads.
  • Hot extrusion molds: Used for hot extrusion tools for materials such as copper and titanium alloys. Working temperatures can reach 800℃, demonstrating their excellent thermal stability.
  • Plastic molds: Used for high-temperature resistant inserts and hot runner system components in injection molds, meeting high wear resistance requirements.
  • Aerospace structural components: Due to their high strength at medium temperatures, they have been used to manufacture missile engine housings, aircraft landing gear, rotor blades, etc. The working temperature range is typically 400-500℃.

H11 Tool Steel Key Characteristics:

H11 tool steel is an American air-hardening hot work die steel, belonging to the chromium-molybdenum-vanadium alloy system. It is manufactured through electroslag remelting and has the following core advantages:

  • High hardenability and air-hardening capability: High alloying element content, such as chromium and molybdenum, results in excellent hardenability, enabling air-cooled hardening and reducing the risk of deformation and cracking during heat treatment of complex cavity molds.
  • High strength: H11 steel can achieve a tensile strength of up to 2750 MPa after quenching and tempering.
  • High toughness: H11 steel exhibits superior toughness compared to H13 steel, effectively withstanding high impact loads and reducing the risk of cracking.
  • Excellent thermal fatigue and thermal crack resistance: Strong resistance to crack initiation and propagation under frequent thermal cycles, making it suitable for mold applications that involve repeated heating and cooling.
  • Good erosion resistance: Effectively resists the erosion and corrosion of molten metals such as aluminum, magnesium, and copper, extending mold life.
  • Medium-temperature thermal stability: Maintains high thermal strength and oxidation resistance in environments below 600℃, and is not easily softened.
  • Balanced wear resistance and machinability: It combines high wear resistance with good cold and hot working properties, and the secondary hardening effect further enhances hardness and wear resistance. The heat treatment process is mature, and performance can be controlled through spheroidizing annealing, preheating quenching, and multiple tempering.

We possess multiple free forging machines and ring rolling machines. Our free forging machines includes a 1-ton air hammer, a 2-ton hydraulic hammer, a 5-ton hydraulic forging machine, a 3500-ton hydraulic forging machine, and multiple ring rolling machines.

Our custom forged parts can weigh up to 20,000 kg and have a maximum length of 20 m. The outer diameter of the forged rings can reach 4.5 m.
